This time, Monsoon is having a special toll on me... :) I have never loved monsoon like this before... May be because this year's summer was pretty too hot...
When we were kids, there was something we could look forward to... The schools open for the new year in June's first Monday...and that meant new school bags, new colourful umbrellas, new books, new shoes and uniforms, new lunch boxes and water bottles and pencil boxes... I miss the school shopping with my siblings and the fights for the same umbrella...
Life now is so monotonous, and right now, am staring at Page 217 of my sister's (my guy's sis) old Microbiology text book trying to read Pneumococcus, which isn't the last bacteria I have to study. So here you go...

A Nostalgic Note on Monsoon

Sunbaked earth imbibes
The tears from heaven...
The magical monsoon vibes
Infect my sleeping pen...

Descending in sheets,
On the muddy roads
The downpour beats -
In joy jump the toads...

Cute feet splash in pools,
Screaming, the kids flew
Like soaked butterflies to schools,
With bags and umbrellas new...

Carefully skipping puddles,
I trot alongside nostalgia...
Splashing mud, a car waddles,
Ending the euphoria...

Such a wonderful flavour to this playful poem... One can see and feel the monsoon with you... from the sunbaked earth to the sweet relief :)

I enjoyed chasing paper boats in Monsoon downpour. It was fun. It was the childhood. Nice poem.

there is a haikuish character about this poem - carefully observant, simply but very sensibly exposed imagery...
