An acknowledgement of reality.

Love's Illusion

We speak of Love,
And fantasize about
The Unconditional.

How great Love is -
That superlative song
We know so little.

We say "Enough -
Our love is enough,
As best it can be.

And let it be,
When so hard we strain,
But cannot be other than true.

Thanks for comment Mitch, and suggestion. "When so hard we strain" is fine. I suppose only those who strain to be unconditional would identify with the line - and discover they can only be true to reality - that their love IS conditioned, and that's good enough - therefore let it be.

Hi Steve - this is right tidy (as we sez in Cardiff) but the last stanza felt a little unfocused compared to the stronger first three becasue of 'when so hard we strain' - I missed the object of the straining! Any chance of a rethink on that line? Hope you don't mind the suggestion! Best. Mitch.
