Reflective poem on moonlight over the bay
first of January, end of New Year's day.

Sunlight After the Rain by Steve Slimm

First Day's Night.

Oh unopposed silver ball of a moon,
cloudlessly hanging in New Year's
roomy night sky,
shine over highways and sea.
Glitter love's liquid message
which takes me
breathlessly into the arms
of my dear love.
Bathe us this night in your
whitest moonglow above.

Dressed in shimmering
black velvet, background
oversewn with shapely
diamonds, twinkling all around
your palefaced core,
please tell me,
oh gentle moon,
like this time last year, will
your lovelight soon
grant this,
will our first-night's
lunar rendevous become
fated to make us
a future where two will be one ?
