i can't write long poems anymore

i can't write long poems anymore--
thoughts rain down in muddy plops,
discomfiting, short, splattering

i can't write long poems anymore--
this one is about a new man's skin
and the sex that waits beneath

i am sorry to be so blunt, it's
just the way it comes down;
next time he comes around
i'm giving him a radius
out of which he must stay

i can't write long poems anymore--
this one is about smells that aren't
exactly smells.

this one says, simply:
come here, quick.
or, go away.

i can't write love poems anymore--

Whatever others may say in a long poem, you can say more in a short one, so don't worry!
