Twisted Visions

I know what it should be
But the image is not clear
Can't tell if it's far away
Or if it's sitting quite near

Looks like a shadow
affected by thick mist
It plays with my mind
My thoughts it does twist

I strain my eyes
Hoping to see clear
My mind wonders
What do we have here?

Nothing I can imagine
That this vision could be
Is it a ghost of the past?
Come to visit me

My heartbeat thunders
A loud beating drum
To this cruel trickery,
Must I succumb?

Searching all reason
That is stored in my head
Not finding an answer
Fills me with dread

These twisted visions
How they haunt me
Begone twisted visions
And let my mind be
