My Soul Into Granite by pattimast

My Soul Into Granite

My soul, into granite
Into quartz; into feldspar-
The flesh world can't hold
My roving mind, bold

Ever changing flares, but
Where's the base layer-
Reached not by prayer
That time hasn't raked

My soul's been naked,
For two billion years
O, clothe me in starlight,
In pure dreams of suns, bright

The universe of substance
Subside into me-
I just want to stay true
To myself, in that light

your soul cannot be entombed in granite...not when it's shooting all that sparks...

Praise for this remarkable phrase - -"The universe of substance subside into me" raised a chill as it sunk into my soul - -- being "naked" for so long is another sign your "roving mind" will always find some outlet in poetry... well done again with this one my friend.

So beautiful, Patti. Of course my fave lines have to be: 'O, clothe me in starlight, In pure dreams of suns, bright'..Those are words to glow in my firefly jar.
