''Bullies are always cowards at heart and may be credited with a pretty safe instinct in scenting their prey.''

Anna Julia Cooper

The Dogs

The sky looks grey
And my heart, it rains
Do save your tears for
Someone good tonight

I feel so dumb
I speak for everyone
When I say life's cruel
And humanity makes
No sense

It's the nature behind
This cannibal of a mind
That's going to put us all
To eternal oblivion

But I shall not fear the dark
The dogs won't bite, they'll just bark
The dogs won't find my taste to be of
Refreshing flavor so they'll just leave
Me alone

These words that are yours
Come from a very private source
And in this not so-clean enviroment
They become a threat for the unhealthy

And so we're misunderstood
Sorry I can't help you, I wish I could
But you've bit yourself in places that
I can't quite reach by myself

Great poem. Each verse is penned excellently, with wonderful meaning behind them. It's a great metaphor too.
