Do you believe in vampires
Disbelief our greatest ally.
When darkness falls then I awake
and rise up from my coffin bed.
My raging thirst I need to slake
There’s victims’ waiting to be bled.
The fools ho walk the streets by night
Do not believe that we exist
I satisfy my appetite
On those I know will not be missed.
The lonely souls who have no one.
Bereft of friends and family
No one notice they have gone.
I choose my victims carefully.
All vampires know they must obey.
The long established precedent
A rule still enforced today.
We do not prey on innocents.
Which would lead to a hue and cry
and danger of discovery.
Although it’s true we do not die
We can be killed quite easily.
Exposure to the morning sun
will turn us to a pile of dust
Its up to each and everyone
to control vampiric lust.
Although the scent of sweet fresh blood
Is tempting, we know we must resist.
Because it’s clearly understood.
If humans knew we did exist..
They would be sure to hunt us down
Exterminate the vampire race
from every city every town.
Far better that we leave no trace.
They have no reason to suspect.
That the old wives tales are true.
If we are careful to select
our victims as we ought to do.
Good hunting is my wish for you.
As you stalk your prey tonight.
I hope to find a victim too.
I do not doubt we have the right.
to cull the herds to meet our needs.
As shepherds feed upon their flocks.
An age old plan that still succeeds
We don’t kill off the breeding stock.
The blood of fertile fair young maids
Is absolutely forbidden.
A rule that must be obeyed
to keep our existence hidden.
