How the "catwalk"world can appear to a poet.

Fulfilment lies . . . by Steve Slimm

Clever Little Number.

Foxy lady wears her furs as well as anyone can.

Parading the catwalk she swirls
and then stalks, defiantly.

Confronting the viewer with wide-eyed
disregard, she flounces
her skin-thin bounce, struts some more stuff
and awestruck clients
now cannot but see themselves
buying into this razzle-dazzle jungle.

Fashion must-haves, where wealth
thrives and presentation always insistently
demands to be counted
as make-believe value, is timed right.

With a clever little number
like this, a well-heeled bank account
can increase by huge amounts,
when seen walking
arm in arm with male opulence.
Ladies here buy and do not count the pence

Marvelous. Thank you for this fascinating and beautiful peek into that other world, where the wealthy decide how to best serve vanity and pride. Delightfully depicted. I quite liked this.

Your wonderful write quite accurately described the glitz and glamor and illusion of the fashion world, Fay. In recent years, Victoria's Secret (a lingerie maker) puts on a fashion show tv special and draws an audience of about 75% men! Your fine poem was a delight to read! Carl.
