written for my friend Max on a piece
of driftwood found in a canyon
on North Fork of the American
River near the confluence with
the Middle Fork.

River Journey

River Journey
(Max’s Driftwood Poem)

The pathway is like a labyrinth
That leads you to the wide ocean
The river connects the mountains
To the endless sea
For you are a vessel
Rising out of the depths
You’re finally washed ashore
Sanded down to the smoothness
That is your final truth
The song of the journey

Profoundly beautiful, so much truth about the journey of life summed up so well that I am amazed how true it is. It reminds me of the poem "The Touch of the Master's Hand". In the Master's hands we are all washed to smoothness that truly is our final truth.

how good it is for poets to relate life and others on simple things that we see that somehow have an impact in our life. This poem is inspiring and we can all relate to this... keep it up sir!
