It's a Trick of the Heart

It's a trick of the heart-
To grow in the sun;
Stretch out, in the dark-
While a life comes undone.

Rewound, by our days-
To the start of the spool;
Where, babbling again-
By life, made a fool.

Pretend we don't see-
That the joke has an end;
Making plans for the day-
Till there's naught left to spend.
