Mirages and Vanities

These vanities of mine
how deep they run
like still waters
at mid sea
wave-less
un-rippled…

…imitating the
twilight beams
bobbing
up and down
my flesh
reducing me at times
to a mere verse

I was an island-
You used to say

Ah!now I’ve
morphed into a mirage

Care to leave
your footprints there ?

From being an Island to becoming a mirage ..the poem traverses a lot , says a lot about life and longing in its subtle flow ....I think I understand it better Now ..

You've got every reason to think the world of yourself. I've never understood the philosophy that preaches people should look at themselves as worthless, undeserving wretches. Of course, vanity can be taken too far just like everything else, but everybody has the right to have a good opinion of themselves. I wouldn't have a good opinion of anyone that didn't. Great job!

Sri, - reducing me at times, to a mere verse - what a line... What a verse.

Wow. Irony comes to life in a metaphor of island and mirage. Best put a colorful sunset behind the lone tree on the beach. Let the dream become reality. Maybe he'll take another look at the sunset with new eyes. A poet friend//RH Peat
