Cautionary thoughts for self and anyone who'll listen....

Standing on the Road

Wondering where the road is taking me,
Trying to remember where I've been,
I pause in silent contemplation
Somehow stalling between seasons,
Teasing out the inner reasons
That brought me to the road I'm standing on.

Traffic here is busy; this is no place to stay,
But lingering just a while to contemplate
Seems politic to one who may have lost his way.

A traveler who journeys on, who refuses e'er to rest,
Who never stops, nor falters in his stride,
Someday may wonder whether he's arrived.
And on arrival, if he seeks for people he loves best,
Goes looking for the ones he loved through life,
May late discover few familiar faces left:
Daughters, brother, son, best friend, or wife.

A weary sigh and shoulder shrug, a shifting of my pack
Belie the wonder that I feel to realize she stands
Beside me still, and vowing to redouble loving back,
We start again together, holding hands.

Such interesting observation on life's journey and I love the flow and the beautiful sentiment it evokes. Wisdom is woven into the lines as happiness takes a bow vowing the one you hold so dear will be with you eternally~~

How blessed to have your beloved with you through life's many twists, hard lessons, and increasing losses. Sobering but heartening-- thank you.

Interesting phenomenon...these words are being interpreted several ways. That's wonderful and gives power to what I've been reading on transactional literacy. I appreciate your insights, all! What a wonderful place PF is!
