Going down

This world is going down
Burning fast and going down
Everything we thought would last forever
We never knew who we were dealing with
Nature has no hard fast laws
A living organization too complex to contain
We manipulated as long as we were able
We got nothing left now, when she gives up the ghost

This world is going down
Take a deep breath, it might be your last
This world is going down
Don't remember the last time I saw home

Take nothing for granted
Going down, it's going down
This ship is going deeper waters
Hold on tight
Enjoy the sunrise while it lasts
Because nothing lasts forever

This world is going down
Take a deep breath, it might be your last
This world is going down
Don't remember the last time I saw home

Burning fast and going down
This ship is going deeper waters
Enjoy the sunrise while it lasts
It's too late now to change our ways

Take nothing for granted..

the state of things well rendered, Patti, i often have a similar feeling and yet i see some kind of hope in that sunrise to enjoy you tell about...the world seems to go totally crazy so often...so watching the dawn is an option not to fall from the edge of an abyss...great write.

Patti, things are always changing but that is the way it has to be or else we are not alive. I agree with you: Nature has no hard fast laws or, if it does, nature likes to make exceptions. Of our human laws, we can say "No law can impede violation or disobedience of the law." (Giacomo Leopardi) It seems like there are no sure outcomes with nature's laws either, at least not all the time. I suspect that you might still be holding out a speck of hope; otherwise, why would you tell us "Take nothing for granted..".
