There are times I can not get to sleep for the nagging words in my head screaming to be written down.

Oh Wretched Mind

Oh wretched mind allow sleep tonight
I need my rest before I can write
My hand is tired and my ink is low
Oh wretched mind please let me go

The lines keep forming inside my head
All I want to do is go to bed
I am afraid the words will elude
And with my mind they will collude

Yes, sometimes I find myself writing them down and in the morning I am sad to realize, I only dreamed I was writing them. However real the words were at the time, they're gone forever then. The writer's lament, lol.

I identify but dont follow Londo's advice if you have certain dreams and a nosey housekeeper. I really like this one AND ALL YOUR POEMS

Ah - I can relate to this so much my friend. I too just have to get up and write at times.

Ah, you are all more prolific writers than I...for climbing 'tween the sheets only to be rooted out shortly thereafter, while annoying, is also rather fascinating to the selfish ego, which begins to feel accomplished for that the mind insisted on pouring forth more poetry....also seems I am scrambling half the time for time and paper to pen down fleeting beginnings of "poems"....I loved this for how very well you expressed it...quite enjoyable!

if I write too much, sometimes, my mind keeps spinning out metaphor and prose - it's very irritating when I have other things to do - or a discipline children in rhyme and they laugh at me :)
