Cracks in Death's Door

If someone has seen beyond the door
and knows what joy or sorrow lurks out there
Would you not desire to question them?
Ask about the landscape
Is it painted or just pained feelings over there
Know what new knowledge now exists
Or what's excluded ...result...bliss?
What remains of the them they knew?
self-aware or friends all new?
Throwing off the cloak of time
breaking rhythm, damning rhyme
Is there freedom or just more rules
Will energy still jolt like joules
Shall we wonder there as here
aimless, rudderless and in fear
shall we wander ...a wasted soul
or tread streets with maps of gold
Will there be jokes up there
or just more cracks to let in air?

I don't know and don't dwell on it much. Anyway you look at it, you wrote a good poem.

Yes very much I would wish to question them. I love the 'cloak of time'. I've noticed that when you use such a classically beautiful expression, you always use it so perfectly; it never goes to waste in your form and meaning. Your poems are the consummate non-wasteful consumers of all things stylish and eloquent and meaningful. And that one line gives me chills; 'will energy still jolt like joules'; just that single line could inspire miles of other poems, I think. (smile)
