the longest road

Some of us take a longer road
but get there in the end
back to the place where we went wrong
where the road forks and bends

and having fought endlessly
against what we knew not
now realize all we longed for
was to take the path we'd not

it seems I've journeyed endlessly
to find the power to forgive
and in it find the strength to say
I have a right to live

My heart need not be heavy
or scarred or so afraid
my thoughts need not to be consumed
by the bitter price I've paid

There is a kind of dignity
I find, here at the end
I understand, I have a choice
and I choose to begin, again

the burdens I have carried
will be left at the crossroads
it's a good place to abandon
this dark and dreary load

I've learned some real harsh lessons
on this lonely barren trip
still, the only thing I really know?
without love it's all for shit

some people take the longest road
to find right at the end
that indeed they've come full circle back
to the same crossroads again

so see me, light and merry
with a sweet smile in my eye
I choose to take the other path
but will blow a kiss ~ goodbye ~

The journey of life is a funny one indeed when we look back on where we have been. I am a new fan of yours. Love your style.
