Overdue.

Line the docks and airport bases.
Drag the politicans here.
Let them carry each dead boy
upon their shoulders. Make it clear.

Let them see and know each soldier
who stood up and took their place.
Let those who make the decisions
memorise each person's face.

They were out there fighting your wars
torn apart by seeds you sow.
Bow your heads and beg forgiveness.
You can't pay the debt you owe.

This was an amazing poem Kath on such a sad subject. I agree with every word and I only wish this could be read by the politicians involved....... Pat

This is a strong, well written indictment of war profiteers and ideologues. Solid rhythm and unforced rhymes.

Outstanding write Kath, too many get to place their bets with the lives of others while never having to face the true cost.

You make a powerful, political point with a defiant, fist-thumping beat in a poem that speaks volumes... it's a pity the powers that be never listen to reason. :(
