“Memories Glitter”

Memories glitter from far away
The twinkles of the stars mourn tonight
Oh, bring them back only for one day

The days of childhood adorned with clay
That bluest sky with one flying kite
Memories glitter from far away

The dance of the white swans on their way
Those pine trees under the same sunlight
Oh, bring them back only for one day

Dust on the staircase now pale and gray
Shades of green from that lantern so bright
Memories glitter from far away

Those wasted years still desire to stay
Every moment wants to hold them tight
Oh, bring them back only for one day

The bygone days can never say nay
Those joyful times are now out of sight
Memories glitter from far away
Oh, bring them back only for one day

A very beautiful write that somehow I missed before. I could relate so well to that lovely line "Oh, bring them back only for one day", if only we could. Cherished memories never fade. God bless....Pat

Why is it that when we are kids, we can't wait to grow up but once grown, we long for childhood again? You have written a beautiful poem here Munia that I think we all can relate to. Bookmarked and liked.

Wow. So perfectly espressive of that ardent longing for the sweet bygone days, now merely memories. You depicted it so beautifully, weaving sweet memories with the lingering gaze of memory laced with the reality of their nonexistence except as memories. I love this! Excellent and poignantly expressed!

"The twinkles of the stars mourn tonight"—such poetic surrealism in this beautifully penned line. "Memories glitter from far away"—with this line, I believe it would carry more day-dream-like power if used only in the first and last stanza. bravo!!!!!!! peace and light, dah

I am overcome with admiration for one who claims to be a new poet. This is an accomplishment an experienced writer would be proud of. The repeating lines come so naturally, without any sign of being forced, and the choice of rhymes was brilliant.

Superb penning Munia all crafted with skill and you have captured the nostalgia of childhood beautifully. My favorite line is "the bluest sky with one flying kite". Within the limitations of the two rhymes your scope has defied them.
