Oh Solitude Moon

Oh solitude moon
You brighten dark skies
In your loneliness
No one hears your cries
Soft gray clouds
Across you they blow
You reward them
With a rusted halo
Why so lonely?
On cold winter night
Your dimming glow
Now becomes trite
I gaze upon you
A freezing tear in eye
I feel sympathy
With a weighted sigh
If I could help you
Just what would I do?
I'm lost for a resolution
If I only knew
Maybe it's the season
Another year soon gone
That has you so stagnant
Unlike a midnight sun
Just know that I see you
And witness your plights
I take comfort in knowing
You're there most nights

I enjoyed this one - a new appreciatiion of the moon. So often we think of what the moon does for us. It is exiting that you gave it a personality.

The emotive moon that controls the tides and woman's cycle can have such power and strength. I felt her pull towards your heart in this compelling poem. I love the hope you bring in as the poem closes. 'Rusted halo' was also one of my favorite images.

Conversation with the moon , - deemed as"lunacy" by the uninformed, is abundant here as inspired eloquence.

Nice portrayal of the changeable moon, yet how it is such a constant in our lives. Melancholy, but a pleasant read.

Makes me mourn for the crimson moon's lamentable task of witnessing the folly of the dots on our rock. Warm regards, John.

I really enjoyed the openness in this poem. I think poetic ideas are contagious to other writers; much as a head cold is (but with much nicer results of course).

What a coincidence, I saw a full moon last night and was thinking of reading some poems on 'moon'. I love the melancholic mood in this writing.
