OCTOGENARIAN

In less than 24 hours I'll have reached
my octogenarian decade, (they) said I
wouldn't make it - WRONG!

I have many people to thank primarily
beloved Alison, who has stood by me
through thick and thin, my ranting and raving,
and both sides of my unresolved argument.

Being the only survivor of my nuclear family,
I feel I owe my progeny a few more years to
correct some wrongs, spread some love and
importantly, find peace within myself.

My darling friend and lover. You might be interested to learn that I never became bored - not once during those eight weeks when I sat by your bedside. If that isn't love, I don't know what is. As for this poem - I am delighted to read it and discover that Jerry the poet is alive and kicking again! Bless you for giving me the chance to share your topsy turvy journey over the past 17 years and I look forward to reading lots more from you during 2011. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
