The North Wall

The north wall in our apartment
Has two shoe prints on it.

The first predates our tenancy
And often we would contemplate
The stunning acrobatics
And the feats of strength required.

One night we got in a scuffle
And a fuzzy, hard-bottomed slipper
Went flying
And smacked, soul-flat
Near the doorway
Five feet up.

The other print
No longer seems
So enigmatic.
