Tiananmen Square: Do you exclusively paint Thomas Kinkade paintings? by mandiberg

Dreams and Wishes.

The ones in charge have spread a lie,
the biggest lie of all.
It's kept humanity in check
for fear the world would fall.

Lives shattered in its telling,
friends and family ripped away.
To keep the lie alive
was deemed a paltry price to pay.

Cold winds have blown across these lands
longer than time can tell.
A little of this, a little of that
has paved the road to hell.

Nothing that really matters
has been given out for free.
They rule with empty promises
from sea to dying sea.

And yet beneath the lie lies fear
that hope and love will tell.
That there might come a turning tide,
an oceanic swell.

When wondering, wishing people
will wake up and dream their dream.
To make this place the paradise
it could have always been.

A well written piece Kath, if only those dreams could come true one day.

A classically written and truthful piece that flows along to its wistful conclusion. The illustration points out the humanity of one who tried to oppose the tide of dictatorship.

Filled with food for thought, here is a magnificent poetic cry for peace - - I just love the expression "from sea to dying sea" - -- this verse grabs the attention all the way through Kath...

A good commentary on world and people affairs. I don't think we can avoid or escape the complexity of ourselves and those around us and the results and consequences of how these all interact. Even dreams come to an end. I don't think there was ever a paradise. In any event, we can't go backwards so it doesn't matter. We can only go forwards and hopefully there is a paradise somewhere. It might be one though that we must build for ourselves and I don't know how that is possible. We certainly need a savior.
