In my life, I have never voted. Shame on me.

Towards a Utopia

Oh how I love the thought
Of living in the future
A utopia indeed
The promises they make
**Funds from the rich
Votes from the poor
And say
We protect each from the other
No more crimes
Nor poverty
Just one big happy family
We are definitely on our way
To a perfectly shaped tomorrow

Alas! Then again
A utopia?
Would be boring
Nothing interesting
Everything, everyone
Will be perfect
Imagine the news readers
“Today is just like yesterday”

So let us be thankful
For those hard working souls
For keeping us from
Making our biggest mistake
Creating a world of peace
For keeping us entertained
For protecting us from ourselves
Coz we simple beings
Just don’t have a clue
Oh what would we do
Without them?

May they live long enough
To serve us all
And to make the world
A better place

**“Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich by promising to protect each from the other” - Oscar Ameringer

I agree with Richard in our world - A Utopia will always remain a figment of the imagination...great write Jayaruwan
