Wayfarer

a million miles
above our minds
endless branching roads
yet to capture us
in their
rearview mirrors

yet society knows
that children
wish only upon the brightest stars
so they sit there,
crafting their perfect
diamonds
and painting
road signs
for generations

from a to b
and not to c
that's how you'll get
where you've always wanted
and been told to see
your life in
ten years from now

following is easiest
when there's
one place to go
the horses in chains
make the strongest team
they've known this
for years

to break free
you can't watch the stars
the brightest are only points
of a perfect plan
and the horizon is the frame
of which it stands

the wayfarer knows
all truly extends beyond
which you cannot see
follow not,
and you will be free

Live life to the fullest, I guess. Never settle for society's "Simple life".
