As poets, we all know how important words are. And finding the right word can either make or break... everything. So here's a poem dedicated to words! No irony intended... at all. Never.

One Word

One word can hurt, or mend, or let you pretend
that the world outside isn't grey and broken.

One word can leave or intrude, or let you feel nude,
wishing you'd whispered the unspoken.

One word can paint a thousand pictures.

I only wish this had gone on longer. Perhaps you could add a few more couplets when you find the time? It would be worth the effort.

Even in this early age you seem to be familiar with the magic of words. Yes, a word can make or break... Keep writing, Julia, you have wonderful poetic sensibilities which will be definitely enhanced by your genetics interests as the magic of genes is similar to the magic of words.

How very true! You seem wise beyond your years. Nicely written.
