A Pantoum

Samhain by ilo1940

Samhain

In the dark of sacred night,
gather we to call all souls -
by the flickering candlelight.
dressed as rabbits, mice and moles.

Gather we to call all souls -
loved ones who have passed before,
dressed as rabbits, mice and moles,
creatures wise of nature's lore.

Loved ones who have passed before,
call we now to join us here.
Creatures wise of natures lore
waiting for them to appear.

Call we now to join us here,
those we've known and loved in life.
Waiting for them to appear,
grandparents, husband and wife.

Those we've known and loved in life,
floating back from shadowed lands -
grandparents, husband and wife,
reaching out to grasp our hands.

Floating back from shadowed lands,
by the flickering candlelight -
reaching out to grasp our hands,
in the dark of sacred night.

The circle of life embedded within the perfect form to reflect the sentiment...an admirably crafted pantoum, used to superlative effect. :)
