My best friend died very suddenly
That day stands frozen in time,
or for as long as there is my mind
That photo we took, recorded one
of your final smiles
You gave of yourself on that day,
as always you did with me
I go over each moment of the times
we shared acting as girls; we laughed,
teased and played
We sampled fine perfumes
and indulged in rich
desserts and strong coffee.
Simply wanting them.
Just as we wanted this time together
There would be tomorrow,
See you soon, again.
We embraced, as we always did
when parting.
How could we know
it would be the last
of all these things
To lose a close friend is so very hard - all that is left are the memories which this poem recalls most tenderly. Condolences to you and may these spent moments always cheer you as you think of the friendship once shared. A warm tender verse.
