Summer Song

After fits and starts of lusty Spring,
Summer settles into stride...
Tends her gardens,
Grows her young,
Mends her walls,
Cries sweetly upon fields dry
To make them vibrant green,
Smiles sunny yellow smiles, and
Looks on life through high blue skies.

Summer's warmth cannot remember
Deathly Winter's bone-chill night,
Sees cool sister Autumn walking
But tells herself that all is right....
Nurse of all green growing things,
She gladly harbors serfs and kings....
Heat of morning, cool of night,
June, July and August are her right....

September leaves her wondering.
September's leaves are wandering....
