Education and understanding bring true freedom.
Free the slaves they cried aloud,
Loose the chains that keep them bound,
Yet still when all the shackles fell,
If they were free no one could tell.
For freedom is more than broken chains,
These were souls and all had names,
To live as men and walk the same,
And unto honor lay a claim.
If we give a fish for a man a meal,
Teach him how to fish the gift is real,
Learn to live and you shall prevail,
Learn to die and learn to fail.
Educate the bigot if you can,
Perhaps then he will become a man,
Else all we do is but for loss,
If each man never bears his cross.
Speak the truth and set men free,
For lies cannot bring liberty,
Until we know what lies within,
The heart will always remain dim.
Free the slaves and speak no lies,
Then all that's evil shrinks and dies,
Teach men to read and give them truth,
Bequest the hope unto the youth.
Teach where freedom may be found,
Then they shall never here be bound,
Before oppression all will rise,
No matter what evil souls devise.
your freedom is not my freedom... their freedom is not our freedom... only education can help to understand what is real freedom..
