Ars Poeta

An art that paints another picture of the world
wherein some have not even known or even seen
The art that carries you through time
and an art that connects both reality and dreams
An art that is fueled by endless thoughts
and interpreted from the emotions within the heart
It is only through this that man becomes immortal
for his heart and soul is forever preserved in his works of art
An art that can take you to anywhere you wish
and it can even propel you to the stars above
This art can be used for purposes of knowledge,
but it is used best when it talks solely about love
An art that is an extension of your humanity
and it works best against profound pain and distress
You need not master the requirements for this art
for the only thing you need to do is to express

Dear Melbingkoy, // Good poem. Well-handles rhymes. Mostly rhythmic lines. Good thoughtss. // It has been said that all one has to do to be a writer, is to write. You are saying here that all one has to do to be a poet, is to write poetry. Very true. "The only thing you need to do is to express." Of course, mastering some of the requirements for the art of poetry does make for better poetry. Your own mastery of some of these skills is apparent in this poem, and makes it better than it would be without your effective use of those skills. // Certainly, with the best poetry, it is an extension of the poet's humanity. // The line "It is only through this that man becomes immortal" strikes me as sad, because of the inclusion of the word "only." Although the heart and sould are preserved in one's works of art, and may be so for a long, long time, it is not forever: even the workds of Shakespeare, every last word, will someday be lost--however long it may take for that to happen, it will happen. Only God, if God have care and grace to give it, may grant immortality at some time and in some way beyond my mind's capacity to imagine how, but not beyond my heart's love of life to hope for. // Exellent poem, fellow poet. // Bye now. --Michael LP, Mr. Poet
