Alice bit her lip as she turned away from
Madame De La Pompadour and returned
to her desk, when she looked up she saw
her friend Mr Teddy Bear
She needed a cuddle so the took him in her
arms and squeezed him tight, as she sat back
he came alive as he always did after a good
hug - and he laughed
Come Alice my dear, time to inspect the
miniature spheres of the little quarks - Up
you jump! and he pulled her into the air
with him, then Down diagonally
Alice waltzed sideways in her Teddy Bear’s
arms - Strange avaunt! the scenery changed
Charm beguile! Alice found herself dressed in
a wide, pink ballroom gown
Reflecting the glory of Marie Antoinette - Truth
around! immediately Mr Teddy Bear turned into
the Nutcracker and took Alice’s hand - Beauty
beware! and planted a kiss
On sweet red lips, Alice laughed in delight as
quarks in all kinds of flavours swirled around
like bubbles in many colours, Mr Teddy Bear
bowed and they danced
To Tchaikovsky’s beautiful music, the Nutcracker
Suite, then the Sugar Plum Fairy handed the
Nutcracker Teddy a bouquet en pointe, the
Tin Soldier appeared
And danced the Fairy away in a lovely ballet
while Mr Nutcracker Teddy showed Alice the
quarks’ Wonderland where the Listening
Monks in the Ramtops are waiting
To hear the chord of creation, as Alice sang in
a-minor, descending arpeggios echoing softly,
Mr Teddy Bear strummed his guitar, playing
the golden sun into accompaniment
Of the dance of creation, Alice joyously sang
and the quarks created an alternate universe
so Alice would never have to return to the
Dungeon Dimensions
Where Madame De La Pompadour
reigns supreme…

Fantasy making use of ‘Alice in Wonderland’
by Lewis Carrol and ‘Soul Music’ by Terry
Pratchett and the six quarks, the building
blocks of the universe, called Up, Down,
Strange, Charm, Truth and Beauty – I
have to change the chronological order
of Beauty and Truth for the rhythm…
What a delightful read, Lese! Nice indeed..
