The First Day of the rest of your Life

Poem Title : The First Day of the Rest of Your Life. Acrostic Poem 155a

The First Day of the Rest of Your Life.
Having finally reached your desired goal, tell me please ,yourself ,whatever you propose?
Enable me to assist, talk about God,all this “Love your Neighbour as Yourself”

First let me say,You can talk to me in confidence ,I Love God,Have always, will always.
I have also not just started loving my Neighbour, I figure everyone as my Neighbour, have always.
Remember I did not come down to Earth with the Last shower of rain,You and I have History !
Security ! Security ! Search this Lady immediately Did you pack this bag yourself Miss?Well ?
Take this Ladies Baggage and search it,Do you have any items with you not declared ?

Do you possess any of the following ?Assertiveness,Awareness,Benevolence and Commitment.
A Woman we deported tried and failed to show a limited knowledge and that just did not do!
Yes I can see it in your Eyes you have all you need so my friend you can go right on through.

Oh, a few other things can we ask, do you have a quick wit and the wisdom of Solomon?
Faith goes without saying, you have to hold that, and your words have the rhythm of poems.

The pride that you carry, must be left on the desk and the pleasures of flesh are forbidden.
Have your acts of compassion unseen by the World, your rewards from now on,are in heaven.
Enter now the new gateway “The Rest of Your Life” don't look back, you have all that you need.

Report to that desk, No ! Just leave all your Bags, you may have them returned if you need them.
Empathy learnt ,an unlimited supply can be carried and in your case ,so widely distribute.
Spiritual learning you will gladly soon undertake, its the best way we see of improving.
To this end we've a favour to ask of you please, some luggage to take on your travels.

Only ten dusty trunks have been left by your Guides, containing over a hundred fine basic virtues.
Feed these virtues on I beg ,they are no weight ,God gives you strength, now get you going!

You have now to plan out the rest of your Life ,I know that your bold steps will not falter.
Once each day without a care to enter Meditation , plan and target Love to each and everybody.
Uppermost your focus of the Mind, will reward your humblest efforts always, always.
Reaching for the Stars in Fantasy, in reality is for dreamers. You are NOT a Dreamer.

Limitless ,the attributes you can bring,to this Life by your actions.
In the darkest World of the Blind you see The One-eyed Man is King.
From this day forth, for the Rest of your Life ,You know just where you're going.
Embark from this gate 30/09/2010... Fear not !This is only the Beginning.

Very good poem, Philip. A poem for true poetry lovers. // I hope you won't mind if I engage in a bit of macabre humor now. It helps me bear bad things, to make jokes about them. // Now, a joke that reverses your poem's title. Actually, this was a cartoon. It shows a man, hands tied behind his back, a guard at his side, ascending a scaffold. As he reaches the top, near the noose, he notices and reads a sign posted there. The sign says: "Today is the last day of the rest of your life." // Now, for one not so macabre, but a bit risque. I saw a sign once that said: "Love thy neighbor--just don't let her husband find out." // I hope you enjoyed and weren't offended by these. They weren't really jokes, were they? Just bits of humor, that might be offensive to some. // As for the first one, the cartoon, humor like that helps me through the day. Especially on bad days. Yes, I still have bad days, just not the same. The new treatment took away most of my pain, but it gave me some really bad nausea and tiredness, etc. It's not all gravy. But thanks to this new treatment, I'm likely to live long enough to have my life cut off by lack of insurance, for it will run out in nine months, and my chemo tablets cost six thousand dollars a month. I know that death is serious, for every dying person, and eventually for each of us; but it helps me a little, to laugh at death, at least once in a while. // As for the second example, that was a sign by itself. Although it gave me a smile, I hasten to add that I have a great respect for marriage, and I never cheated on my wife for my seven years of marriage, nor would I ever have any improper contact with any married woman. // I like humor. In all things, sooner or later. I hope I didn't offend you. As Robyn said, this your poem is a fine poem, describing attributes worth aspiring to. I second her comment. --Michael LP
