There are many men and women from the past, considered to be Titans in their day who are now barely remembered except by students of history. Their contributions, both good and bad, define where we are today...

The Forgotten Titans

Great men, who once strode among us as giants,
Paragons of virtue and self-reliance
Existing now as mere half-forgotten names
Shrouded in mists of obscurity or shame.

Titans who we thought would endure the ages
Are now mentioned only in the arcane pages
In the moldy pamphlets and gazetteers
Dutifully recording their wonder years.

Only when some scholar roams the dim aisles
Between musty library stacks and piles
Does he discover where the Titans have gone
And how much of our history's been redrawn.

Remember those Titans who have passed away
For their actions define where we are today.

Profound and thought provoking this poetic tribute reminds us of the insignificance of our little lives, our 'celebrity' heroes and our petty complaints and triumphs. Thanks for reminding us of those who for ever shaped our history and our future. Beautifully written piece. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
