"Oh, what is it''? is such a dumb question to ask
when someone gives us a wrapped gift..

yet it's something rehearsed
we pull from the sleeve
when taken off-guard
or pampered on schedule

Just say "Thank you,
you shouldn't have"

but of course they should!

Well written. Even more perplexing can be what to say after the gift is opened. Your "Thank You" should certainly be enough.
