remembering

Jackser

Jackser leaned against the old stone wall
undid the cap on the black bottle
followed me inside
always 15 or 20 seconds in the difference
(time travelling generations)

We sat and talked
gardener entertaining boy
boy learning from gardener

The best history teacher
could not have explained
what it was like when
the Black and Tans were in town
Not like Jackser could
-with his inimitable wheezy smirk -

why hadn't I setup
my dictaphone - captured it -
but I had!
in my head -
now its there
in yours

My Historian friend your story woke me up! Now I cannot sleep again as I want to know what happened to Black & Tans?
