Spectacular Over City

On the night when the world began
No cloud was obscuring the sky
Myriad stars infinite span
It was a feast for the eye

Patterns of light flashed in and out
As if painted by unseen hand
From witnesses drawing a shout
Gathering people on the land

To those who were living in fear
Wasting their time and hoarding wealth
Bright projections struck as a spear
Spoke of despair and of ill-health

But the designs were appeasing
To those who had waken early
On black canvas recognizing
The fruits of hope and toilsome day

And as they spread their happiness
To each in the vast assembly
A giant flare cut the darkness
Spectacular over city

Amazing O so wonderful
From this omen everyone knew
Out of the times O so dreadful
This world was ripe to rise anew
