Sticky Situation

She wove a web of words,
not paying due care and attention
I flew straight in....

(“Do you love me” she asked
I smiled gently and said “you know I do”
“How much do you Love me” she said.
“With all my heart of course”.

“Why?” She asked.)

No longer free to fly on wings of fancy,
reality staring me in the face,
the strands of meaning stretched out
in all directions from her middle.

(“Because you have eight legs” I said,
but she did not understand.
Just devoured me.)

Terrific poem right down to the surprise ending. Nicely penned.

Oh to live on the edge of the spider's web, treading carefully, afraid that the one step taken might be your last. Yikes. This poem is creative and is full of vivid imagery and hidden messages......Nadine
