so many poems have been written on the dandelion but i still always wanted to write one of my own. After reading Lilian Susan Thomas's poem "The Hitchiker" I've finally written one.... thanks for the inspiration Lilian.... (link to her poem http://www.poetfreak.com/text/51298/the-hitchhiker.html

Free Spirit by son-etta

Only The Wind

no roots to hold her back
her only baggage a knapsack
hitchhiking on the wind
her only guide a vague dream

like a dandelion seed
no one knows where she's been
and where she's going
only the wind...
only the wind...

Such carefully chosen words, and your comparison with the dandelion is so apt,it gives us an indelible image to take away with us. I esp. like the effect of the repeated line

Exquisite...a graceful wish of a poem dancing in the wind. I love it! :)

There is something about a dandelion that is magical and your poem evokes a longing and yet it is blowing away and the longing may not ever be realized. I used to run through dandelion fields as a child and I felt as though I was flying. I just adore this dandelion peom.

This has the feel of real freedom Sonya - - the dandelion is a good choice of comparison with its windblown seed. Imaginative write.
