“It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking: the arrival of a friend, one's present or future thirst, the excellence of the wine, or any other reason.” ~ Latin proverb

Cheers!

I’m quaffing a carafe of sun-ripened fun,
Bacchanalian sips brighten my day.
I grin as I gulp and imbibe the bouquet
Of beauty so fruity I can’t stop at one.

I feel my head reel as my wits come undone,
I titter and slur, eyes blur and legs sway;
I’m quaffing a carafe of sun-ripened fun,
Bacchanalian sips brighten my day.

Dionysus dictates that one shouldn't shun
The nectar of gods, an ambrosial spray
Of wishes on grapevines and kisses in hay
That excite and ignite my tingling tongue -
I’m quaffing a carafe of sun-ripened fun.

Cheers to you too Susan! You weave in and out of words with such delicious intent even if your wits come undone. The picture that complements this poem is tantalizing.

You have taken quaffing to a higher order in this first rate verse Sue - - here's to more Bacchanalian delights in your future ventures into the world of the nectar of gods. This one tasted of poetic more-ish-ness.

Wow! i just had a sip (not a carafe) of your "sun-ripened fun" and it tastes really yummy. I now might want a carafe of it. Hope you have stocked up a lot! All the poetfreaks might want to have a carafe each! This is creativity at its very best! Cheers!!!
