“My Own Reflection”

I am my own reflection
But when I look at me
I can see your affliction

I am my own reflection
But when I look at me
I have no choice of selection

I am my own reflection
But when I look at me
I can see your heart’s reaction

I can never betray ‘me’
I can never lie to myself
As I am my own reflection

But all that I can see
Is only you within me
I can never look away

I can never shy away
I can never run away
I can never fade away

As you are my own reflection..

You and the loved one have fused together in this lovely poem. The rhymes you have used work remarkably well, and the feeling you express is very touching.

Munia, finding beauty within ones self is the true measure of realizing the wealth of the gift given you by Our Heavenly Father...it realy is within each of us...Lovely verse my dear. Dorothy A Poet Who Loves To Sing

How do you say so much in few simple words Munia...? I love the way you write...

I think the 'poet' Munia Khan has become a 'Sufi' in this simple and beautiful poem. A poet and a sufi both are love addicted and it takes them only a moment of self- revelation to merge from one into the other.

LOl, I have no idea what is it with you and mirrors, lol whenever I turn to your page, always come across poem that focuses either on reflections or mirrors lol.. Anyway a very deep poem Munia. At times even I have seen and felt that part of me does exist in another person's soul only to come to foregone conclusion that i was always wrong lol... Anyway again a very nice, deep and touching poem.

Your writing always touches the depth of my heart, Munia. I think because your lines are absolutely true to your experience, lived through and pondered on. Beautiful verse.

Very deep and meaningful poem Munia perhaps to you more than to me. I have been thinking of the reflection and what we give out is reflected back even if we don't want it to be. So perhaps you can't see anything amiss with yourself, and it is someone else reacting to you in a way you do not want and you know you are true to yourself and it should not be this way. It is such beautiful and sensitive writing and as really made me think. So top marks for another poem evolved from your poetical soul and shared with your friends here at Poetfreak who know the value of feelings and their expression.

This reader senses tension behind these lines - a feeling of profound disquiet that sits below the surface. Reflection is the subject of your enigmatic piece. But I suspect that karma might have a hand in its conception. Your strength becomes you, Munia. Your poems are growing in depth and power as a result. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

much to reflect here....but i think what it means is what we see in another is simply a projection of ourselves onto them...a criminal cannot see beauty in anyone because he has not seen that beauty in himself....

Very searching and a haunting l write Munia - - needs reading over more than once to get the feel of its hidden message.

My idea of ones reflection is just that, just a reflection of what OUR eyes may view. They say, that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." So what we see is much different than anothers' view. Such as an anorexic. They see themselves as FAT! Yet they are so underweight and sick. The mind plays tricks on you, and so does the devil! Be careful of looking at yourself too much. God bless

This poem seems to me to reveal a well-kept secret about human relationships - it's very deep and needs to be read more than once.
