I am not an Indian or not a panegyrist of India..But I just wanted to compose this stuff to offer my homage to that mighty land....In fact since my childhood I have been inspired by the great oriental legacy of India, even in our Sri lankan culture has been influanced by India. As a maverick man I strongly belive India's cultural heritage not only belong to her people.....but to entire mankind.....

Paean to India

World is a crown
But,
you are her galconda
Which glitters
And shatters the darkness,
Of this universe
Earth was nourished
And flourished
By thy sons of nobility
Thinkers,conqurors and preachers
They went beyond mere mortality
But,
Sought immortality
Chanakya thinkers of all thinkers
Akbar conqurors of all conqurors
Buddha preachers of all preachers
To sublimate your name
They reached the summit
Of their fame......

Oh,my lovely India
August shine of
Cultured world
You adorned our earth
by thy ineffable splendour
It has no end
But,
Spreads with the wind
In days of yore
Shakyas reigned your
Soil by chivelry
Asoka fed it by his sword
Then by his creed.....
Kings and dynasties
Came and gone
No one remained soo long
But,
Your legacy go ahead
As a song.....
God graced land
God chosen people
will subdue every thing
by their wisdom too grand.......!

Dear Punsara This is a marvelous poem that you offer and implicit in the poem is the idea that we are all citizens of the world rather than primarily of particular states and religions...Your references to Asoka and implicitly to Buddhism and its message are marvelously built in the poem. I look forward to more of your poems.
