Man Cannot Be Defeated

Sympathy is
Not less than a destroyer;
It kills the man
Who receives it;
Men who pose are
Killers of mankind.

Empathy is
For harnessing
And lights the world of the needy;

Accepting unreasonable
Popularity is a
Double-edged knife
For your own neck,
And let it not be sharpened
Very often.

Success does not exist
In life,
As well
The defeat is an illusion.
Hence
'Man can be Destroyed*
and Cannot be Defeated'

*Ernest Hemingway- The old man And the sea

I just love Hemingway and his works, and your poem is an inspiring reflection on the strength of a human being.Very well-written piece(I also used this quote once for my poem 'The desert storm').

We need actually more of both. But mankind tends at times to take both a bit overboard. God Bless
