Faded now but once so bright,
You took my breath away.
Not just my dreams but right
To core, what my heart obeyed
Was urgent call to daily heed
The nearness of your glow.
Oh my distant star, I need
Your guidance still, so slow
Am I to loose your hand,
And alone to wander through
This life without the banded
Unseen ties I had with you.
Within your sphere I was whole.
Near you I too shone, but star,
Now the pathway of my soul
Feels, without you, oh so hard.
The stars, so magnificent and the way we feel about certain stars - I have been observing Venus these last few months as it has been so bright - is spot on. In our minds, we do feel a kinship with the skies: why? I often wonder myself, but even though I am scientific in my approach to life - despite having experiences beyond reasonable explanation - I am undeniably captured, like your poem suggests, by the stars and their pull on my thoughts. Such sadness here, but, you still shine, Fay, at least to those of us who read your eloquent words.
