May be this is an eccentric poem, but it's my passion to be an eccentric poet.Well I wish to say something about my poetical imagination,it based on Christopher Marlowe's "Dr.Faustus.Marlowe has illustrated Dr.Faustus as a hedonist,he sold his soul to Lucifer for gain ultimate knowledge,he dwelt in his own carnal palchritude..But at last Faustus was doomed by his own folly of pride and curiosity.Marlowe symbolizes Faustus as an epitome of wicked human ambitions...This story led my mind to write a poem, also I have taken some Latin quotations and dramatical lines from the original play to delight my work.

Jeremiad of Dr.Faustus

"Yet art thou still but faustus, and a man
Couldst thou make men to live eternally
Or,being dead, raise them to life again...
Oh,that was my stupidity
To slake the cupidity...
I betrayed my creed
To achive my greed
Of my self conceit
I learned the art of necromancy
With extreme ecstacy
To treat my lunacy
Of conquring the range of knowledge.....

I sold my soul
For approach my goul
As a fool...
An obligation with Lucifer
Against the will of god..
I knew the outcome
Of my outrage
But,
Surrounded by
Outlandish aims..
Without shame
I chased the fame
To tame the game
Of mere mortality.
I walked upon the dust
Of lust...
That was my crude jest..

O,my twnenty years saga
Of carnal curiosity
To seek the infinity
Reach the peak of
Ultimate misery...
Oh,Faustus ,
"Tempus Fugit"
No chance to repent
No chance to survive..
One thing is certain...
It's your damnation....
"O lente,lente curite,notis equi...!"
The stars move still time runs,
The clock will strike.....!
The devil will come and
Faustus must be damned...!
O,who pull my wretched soul down..?
No one,
But,my own pride.........!

This is wonderful, Punsara. You capture the melodrama of this infamous story with a fine feel for language and a keen poetic ear. Love your generous use of rhyme and the pace of the poem which drives the narrative with great authority. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

* Punsara, you've captured the spirit of Marlowe's Faustus so well... The poem is so well-constructed and Faustus's agony is well-portrayed... * May I add a different interpretation of Marlowe's Faustus. please...The story is also indicative of the spirit of the Renaissance, the urge to question and to inquire and unfortunately, the Church (like all religious organizations), did not like that and Faustus was turned into a morality tale - a warning to people like us not to qn and not to go beyond religious dogma...Galileo went beyond religious dogma as Darwin did in later years and both embarrassed the established doctrine by their very exploration of the truth; Galileo was punished for it but it was not possible to punish Darwin... * Having said that, I reiterate your poem is an excellent work, lively and well-expressed.
