snapshorts 9

that's a big bad sky
up there i thought
as fiery white swords
clash and clatter.

long lines of virgin
heat slice the world
with wicked forked
flashes of cordite.

as blue catches
silver fire,
i hear sirens wail
in the snarling sky.

from the edge
of the world,
a million grey horses
come puffing in.

pounding cumulus
hooves, the fire force
arrives with sloshing
chariots full of water.
