Frustrated Dreams

Why do I waste my precious time
On meaningful and highbrow rhyme
Just think how happy I would be
If just let my spirit free

I'd write of nonsense just like Lear
And ridicule, I'd never fear
Inventing words that fit my mood
Not caring when they're misconstrued

I'd socialize with slithy toves
And wander free in borogroves
You see - I have the feel for this
To write such verse for me is bliss

But no, I want to cut a dash
Not be some cut-price Ogden Nash
Or Milligan, or even Lear
I want to be the next Shakespeare!

HA! I love this light hearted verse! And you know my friend that in this day and time if we even tried to be an Ogden Nash we would be criticized no end! But I'm with you, Shakespeare is the Bard to Be!
