Only Speak the Truth to Me

Go, uninvited scornful lies
And set sweet truth before my eyes
Ah, truth, that oft in circled flight
Has cunningly escaped the light
As if afeared to bare its face
Mandating half-truths in its place
Though sore it be, I have no fear
Of hearing truths I ought not hear
Leave wasted pleasantries aside
Such flummery, I can't abide
Thus, base your words in verity
And only speak the truth to me

I love this not only for its perfect pace and just right choice of words but because it is what I believe. I cherish truth as the greatest of virtues.
