A bundle of ongoing melodious charm
is my blackbird.
Love-on-the-wing songster,
disarmingly piping his world into ecstasy,
every dawn to dusk.
Noteworthy
bird of large beak and eye, he must,
when tongue is unfurled,
pour out liquid gold,
with lyrical trilling that melts the soul.
Blackbird and I, at times, are seen
to vye with exchanges.
A bitty
performance by one, but not he,
as nothing
but he knows his song, once begun
I am caught
up and just listen, as he knows I ought.

beautiful tribute to your songbird.....may the melody play on and on....
'Love-on-the-wing songster, disarmingly piping his world into ecstasy, every dawn to dusk..'A lovely way to describe that beautiful creature, Fay..Loved it very much.
this is such a lovely write Fay I can hear the melody floating in through the door..
How wonderfully you describe this glorious blackbird with melodies that have warmed my heart. 'The liquid gold, lyrical trilling, love-on-the-wing songster' just such enchanting images Fay.
Listener of such a bird song only can know what you say much better!
as delightful a description of the melodious blackbird as ever I have heard. This thrills with a trill of its' very own Fay! :) xxx
One of the nicest things...to be a captured audience to nature. Loved your appreciation of a moment in time.
fay i love birds trilling fantastic poem
This poem is as smooth as the trill of the blackbird, and I just love the unfurled tongue pouring liquid gold. This sums up the song of the blackbird perfectly. :)
Another wonderful write Fay...you extol the beauty and wonders of nature in this lovely piece on your interactions with a black bird...
Beautiful Fay - as always !!! Your poem catches the intrinsic essence of the Blackbird. I have lots of birds in my garden and like you I consider the blackbird one of the cutest. The song of the TURDUS (thrush) MERULE (blackbird) is very melodious and they begin to sing as early as the end of January. And for that minute a Blackbird sang Close by and round him mistier Further and further all the birds Of Oxfordshire and Gloucester. Thanks for sharing - love through poetry - JOHN LOL
nature is marvelous and this poem is just wonderful in its quiet observation of an aspect of nature
I listened in awe last night to sweet warbles from yonder tree oh yes, did he please me, singing so contenedly.
