but who on earth
is going to feed them?

Great question- who indeed- maybe they just become pavement specials till they steal a heart and find a home of people wanting a true friend :) I like Susan's interpretation more

I think they'll all dry up and evaporate, and we'll see them as 'fluffy ice cream scoops' in the Heavens, awaiting reincarnation. :)
